Biography

Luis Alejandro Medina is a reporter for Noticiero 47 Telemundo (Telemundo 47 News). As part of Noticiero 47 Telemundo, Medina reports the news to viewers in the New York tri-state area.

Since joining Telemundo 47 in 1995, Medina has been recognized with various awards throughout his career in journalism, including four “Simón Bolívar” awards. He has also received nine Emmy® awards from the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences, and has been recognized by several organizations such as the New York Chapter of ACE, the United States Congress, the New Jersey Legislature, and the New York City Council. 

Medina obtained a degree in Philosophy from San Buenaventura University and a Master of Economics from La Universidad Santo Javeriana (Saint Javeriana University).  Medina was presented with a Doctorate “Honoris Causa” by La Universidad Santo Tomás (Saint Tomas University) for his contributions to journalism and social service.

A father of two children, Medina supports community organizations that advocate for children in the United States and Colombia. He is a member of the Committee of the Devine Child (Comité del Divino Niño) and Shelter of Children in Tunja (Amparo de Niños de Tunja), both located in Colombia.
