Throughout the historical challenges facing our workforce in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Diaz has continued to manage the vital operations of the Department as well as oversee the Division of Wage-Hour and Contract Compliance and the Division of Public Safety and Occupational Safety and Health.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Her experience in political endeavors began with a grassroots campaign for then-Senator Barack Obama. Diaz\u2019s dedication to public service includes the role of Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Governor Jon Corzine and Chief of Staff to a New Jersey State Legislator. She has also served on various coalitions and boards that promote protections for immigrants, women\u2019s equality, and worker protections.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>From 2014 &#8211; 2018, Diaz was proud to serve as New Jersey Political Director for Local 32BJ SEIU (Service Employees International Union) \u2013 the largest property services union in the country. Her collaborative approach to outreach served her well as a strategist and principal liaison between federal, state, and local officials and civic organizations. This experience helped champion progressive legislation that has benefited thousands of workers.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Diaz received the Pioneer Award from LUPE, a Latina women&#8217;s policy organization, and a Community Service award for policy and advocacy for underserved communities from the social justice organization Citizen Action.
