Overview of Immigrants Integration Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ileana J.\nMontes is IACO\u2019s Advisory Counsel and Legal Department Director, she is an\nattorney with 22 years of experience dealing with multifaceted legal issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n After\nearning an undergraduate degree in Psychology, cum laude, from the East\nStroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, Ileana attended Seton Hall University\nSchool of Law where she obtained her Juris Doctorate degree in 1997. At Seton Hall she was on the Moot Court Board\nand the Interscholastic Moot Court Team, was selected best Oralist in an appellate\nadvocacy competition and was a semi-finalist in a national competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ileana was\nthe first Hispanic Director of the Division on Women of State of New Jersey. She\nalso served as Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Office for the\nDepartment of Community Affairs of New Jersey. In that capacity, Ileana\nrepresented hundreds of employees of the Department making sure that they were\nafforded the protections under the New Jersey Civil Rights Act and the New\nJersey Law against Discrimination<\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout\nher legal career Ileana has served on numerous professional committees,\nincluding but not limited to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on\nMunicipal Courts, the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Minority Concerns,\nthe New Jersey Advisory Council Against Sexual Violence, the Governor\u2019s\nHispanic Advisory Council, the Governor\u2019s Disparity Study Commission, the\nGovernor\u2019s Gender Equity Advisory Committee and the Governor\u2019s Equal Employment\nOpportunity in Public Contract Committee.\n\nAdditionally, Ileana has\nbeen an active member of the legal and the Hispanic community. She is a former\npresident of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey, the founder and\ncurrent president of \u201cColombianos Rompiendo Barreras\u201d. She is a member of the State\nBar Association of New Jersey, the Hispanic National Bar Association, the\nLatino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey, and the Organization Latinas United\nfor Political Empowerment.
