Presenter for the Passaic Police Department<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Chief Luis Guzman started his Law Enforcement Career as a\ncorrection officer with the Passaic County Sheriff\u2019s Department in January of\n1990. He was hired as a Police Officer by the City of Passaic on 10-30-90 and\nwas the first Dominican born Police Officer hired in the City of Passaic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n While in the Police Academy he received the Distinguished\nGraduated Award for ranking 1 among all Police Officer Trainees. After the\nPolice Academy he was assigned to walking the beat throughout the city for over\n3 years. He was then assigned to the Patrol Division for another 4 years. Before\nbeing assigned to the Detective Bureau for the next 3 years as a criminal investigator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In February of 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant\nand assigned to supervise detectives. Also, during his tenure as a Sergeant, he\nworked in the Patrol division and Community Policing Unit. In October of 2004\nhe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. As a lieutenant he has held the\nposition of Commander of several patrol Shifts, The Detective Bureau and the\nInternal Affairs Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In September of 2011, Luis was promoted to rank of Captain\nand was assigned to commander of all uniformed divisions then after several\nyears he was transferred to Detective Bureau to command all non-uniformed\ndivisions. In October of 2013 Luis Guzman was promoted to the Rank of Deputy\nChief and assigned to oversee the operations divisions of the police\ndepartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In October of 2016 he was promoted to the position of Chief\nof Police for the City of Passaic. He was the first Dominican Born Chief of\nPolice in the United States. Luis Guzman has been a Law Enforcement officer for\n30 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He has been a Professor of Criminal Justice at Passaic\nCounty Community College, for over 15 years with a Master\u2019s Degree in\nAdministrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
