“<\/a>The contribution of immigrants to our economy; the importance of promoting healthy banking habits<\/a><\/strong>“<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Marlene\nCaride was named to lead the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance by\nGovernor Phil Murphy and began serving on January 16, 2018. Commissioner Caride\nis the first Hispanic to head the Department where she oversees New Jersey\u2019s\ninsurance, banking and real estate industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prior to\njoining the Department, Caride was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly\nrepresenting the 36th Legislative District. During her three terms in the\nAssembly, Caride served on the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance\nCommittee, the Assembly Appropriations Committee and the New Jersey Legislative\nSelect Committee on Investigation. She also chaired the Assembly Education Committee\nand was vice-chair of the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities\nCommittee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Caride was\na partner in the Union City law firm of Gonzalez & Caride. She is a member\nof the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, the New Jersey State Bar\nAssociation, the Hudson County Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association\nof New Jersey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Caride is\na graduate of California Western School of Law and Fairleigh Dickinson\nUniversity with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.
